This year marks the 5th anniversary of the King of Maryland Tournament. This is such an important event every year for ACW as it sets the tone for the rest of the year. What the athletes fight for, who they fight against, what their goals are, all of this is usually put in place at the King of Maryland Tournament. More importantly than all of that, Friday night is about a friend.
Its been two years since Reggie Rivers left this earth. Still, his presence is sorely missed in the ACW locker room. I remember hearing the news that he had been involved in a motorcycle accident in the Carolinas and figured that while the accident was said to be serious, we would see him again. A few weeks later, we were all shocked to find out that the man known to our fans as Prodigy PTV had passed away due to complications stemming from the accident. Lost was our locker room leader and friend not to mention a father, a husband, a family man. A month later, it was announced that the annual King of Maryland Tournament would be renamed in honor of Reggie. Many things have changed since Reggie has left us. People have come and gone from ACW. Titles have changed hands and many events have taken place. Despite all of that, one thing is for certain: as long as ACW continues, the legacy of Reggie Rivers will live on. Whether you're a fan, a wrestler, or someone assisting with this event, remember what Friday night is about. Remembering the legacy of Reggie Rivers, remembering the contributions of Prodigy PTV, remembering a friend.
