We have confirmed with ACW Officials that ECW Original: The Sandman will be facing "Trending Worldwide" Pat Anthony at Hagerstown Heat on February 20th. This will be The Sandman's return to Adrenaline Championship Wrestling for the first time since ACW's Six Flags Fright Fest event this past summer.

The Sandman was known as The Hardcore Icon during the 90's in Extreme Championship Wrestling, winning their World Heavyweight Championship on multiple occasions. His rivalries with Raven and Tommy Dreamer are among some of the most memorable rivalries in Pro Wrestling History.

Pat Anthony is a multi-time ACW Tag Team Champion with fellow ACW Star Rayburn as well as one of the longest tenured ACW stars in the companies history. His most notable victory would be a successful ACW Tag Team Title defense over Greg Excellent and former WWE Superstar Scotty 2 Hotty.

This matchup will take place when ACW makes its debut in Hagerstown, Maryland on February 20th. Tickets are available right here at www.adrenalinewrestling .com and and Bikle's Snow, Skate, and Surf located at 1 N Potomac St, Hagerstown, MD. After Diaz vs Smooth, what is next for the Light Heavyweight Championship?

2/2/2016

As we get closer to February 12th and the impending Steel Cage Match pitting the ACW Light Heavyweight Champion Diaz against JD Smooth, we can say with pretty good accuracy that there will be a clear cut winner in this contest, unlike the last few outings between the two competitors. That's what a steel cage is for, to ensure a clear winner in a rivalry of uncertainty.

It is ironic that we mention uncertainty. While one result in the Febraury 12th title bout will determine what future ACW Light Heavyweight Title bouts will be going into the spring, another will bring uncertainty to the future of the ACW Light Heavyweight Title almost immediately. Once you take a look at both outcomes, you'll see exactly what we're talking about.

If Diaz successfully retains the Light Heavyweight Championship: Then JD Smooth goes to the back of the line of contenders, and there is the problem. After JD Smooth, there really isnt a clear #1 contender. Over the last 3 years, Diaz has defeated every Light Heavyweight that ACW has put in front of him.  While there are plenty of new up and coming Light Heavyweights in ACW, most have turned their focus to Tag Team competition, as they see a faster path to success due to the parity of Tag Team competition in ACW.

Thats not a knock at all to the young and exciting Tag Teams in ACW, but the Tag Team Titles have changed hands more than any other title in ACW over the last 3 years. The last time the Light Heavyweight Championship changed hands, Barack Obama was just finishing his first term as President. Because of this, there are very few if any viable contenders for the ACW Light Heavyweight Championship after JD Smooth.

If JD Smooth wins the Light Heavyweight Championship: we can almost gaurantee that Diaz will request an immediate rematch, which would presumably take place in Hagerstown, MD on Febraury 20th. With the King of Maryland Tournament taking place in March, one can assume both JD Smooth and Diaz will have their sights set on becoming King of Maryland after a return title bout. While that gives us a glimpse of what we could expect throughout the spring. we would basically be dealing with the same situation of lacking a clear contender once the summer rolls in. Smooth winning the championship on the 12th would just delay the inevitable.

There are many Light Heavyweight contenders from years past that have focused their attention to the ACW Championship, much like the newer Light Heavyweights have focused on Tag Team gold. Sicend is one of those names that come to mind, who is actively trying to regain the Heavyweight Championship he recently lost after years of Light Heavyweight success in ACW. You can probably count him out for the forseeable future as his focus is on the Heavyweight Championship.

Robbie Illuminati? Maybe, but securing a title shot will be rough considering his win-loss record in ACW over the past year has not been all that good. However, The South Phillionaire has been closer than anyone in dethroning the current champion, which could go a long way with ACW Officials in securing another title shot.

Pat Anthony could be next in line. After all, if im not mistaken he never did receive a rematch after the first Chaos in Carroll County when Diaz defeated him on a technicality in front of his hometown crowd. Though Anthony and his tag team partner Rayburn seemed to be focused on winning back the Tag Team Championships they lost back in November.

Louis G Rich could request another title match. After all, he and Diaz had a highly competitive series of matches over the summer of 2015, though I can only see him securing a championship match if a new champion is crowned as Diaz has defeated the 2015 King of Maryland twice in the last year.  Not to mention Rich's focus over the next two months will more than likely be on winning the King of Maryland yet again.

The uncertainty of the next #1 contender could not be more real. Out of the uncertainty, one thing is certain: Anything can happen over the next two months. Who will step up and take their shot at the most coveted prize in Maryland Wrestling? We'll all find out soon enough.......

Match Preview: ACW Championship- (c) Ruckus vs Sicend

After the shocking turn of events at GoldRush back in November, Sicend is no longer the ACW Heavyweight Champion. His former trainer, Ruckus conspired with fellow BLK OUT member Robbie Illuminati to take the championship away from the leader of Riot City by cashing in his Golden Ticket briefcase that he won earlier in the night.

While a one on one rematch was supposed to take place on Decmeber 12th in Ellicott City, a series of events took place that turned the one on one match, into a 4 way ladder match also featuring JD Smooth and Diaz. In what was voted Match of the Year by ACW officials, Ruckus escaped Ellicott City with the championship still in his possession. Now, the focus turns to January 22nd and Millersville, MD. That is where the Steel Cage rematch for the ACW Championship will take place between Sicend and Ruckus.

Since November 22nd, Riot City has experienced hit after hit. In addition to losing the ACW Championship, Jason Scythe left the group very unceremoniously. During BLK OUT's beat down of Sicend, Scythe ran to the ring and threw is Riot City T Shirt to the ground rather than save Sicend from the 2 on 1 attack. He then proceeded to walk out of the building without explaining himself whatsoever.

Meanwhile, BLK OUT has seen the most success they've had since they arrived in ACW. They've capped of the end of the year by winning the ACW Heavyweight Championship along with a successful title defense against 3 opponents, one of which was the former champion; Sicend. After a years worth of missed opportunities, they have finally experienced the same success that they have experienced in so many other promotions across the country.

On February 12th, all the success or bad luck wont matter for either group. The only thing that matters is winning inside the Steel Cage, where it will be one on one.  No additional opponents, no outside interference, just Sicend and Ruckus fighting to decide who is the best wrestler in ACW. A win for Ruckus means that Sicend will have to start right back at the bottom and work to earn another championship match. A win for Sicend could potentially get Riot City back on track in bringing the championship back home.

Will Ruckus send Sicend to the back of the line? Or, will Sicend regain the championship that was robbed from him back in November? The only way to find out is to be in Millersville, MD on January 22nd as ACW Presents: Twas the Cage Fight AFTER Christmas. Get your tickets today.

Diaz vs Smooth: A Matter of Respect

12/23/2015

For anyone who has ever attempted or successfully performed in the wrestling business, one of the very first things you learn is the importance of respecting the people you compete against and the business in general. Respect in this business can go a long way in making a career.... or derailing a career earlier than expected.

Another lesson, just as important as respect is making every opportunity count. Taking advantage of opportunities is the difference between a successful career and having no career at all. Sometimes, taking advantage of an opportunity can come at the expense of being disrespectful to your opponent or the business in general. Take the situation surrounding the ACW Light Heavyweight Championship for example.

Since arriving in ACW, JD Smooth and his associate AC Wolf have stopped at nothing to get their hands on the ACW Light Heavyweight Championship. There's just one problem with that: the man that currently holds the Light Heavyweight Championship is none other than the miniBOSS Diaz. Diaz has currently held the Light Heavyweight Championship for just over 3 years and counting.

While JD Smooth has gained victories over Diaz since his arrival in Early November, most have been due to outside interference or by DQ. None of which have earned him the championship. While most competitors would go back to the drawing board to earn another title shot or to figure out another strategy, Smooth resorted another plan of attack.

After a tag team match pitting Diaz and Vic Ramon against Smooth and AC Wolf, JD resorted to an act of theft and stole the ACW Light Heavyweight Championship Belt from Diaz and declared himself the champion. A bold move that other members of the ACW Locker Room were not happy about.

"I've held a championship before. Ive challenged for championships and lost. But it would have been very disrespectful to steal the champion's title after a loss," said an unnamed ACW competitor. "It's a really cowardly thing to do" he later added. "I hope he has fun playing with his Light Heavyweight Championship playset for the next few weeks" said ACW Commissioner Mike Ratick. " From the few conversations I have had with Diaz since it happen, he sounds pretty pissed off. It was probably not a wise decision to piss off a man who has been nothing but clutch in big match situations going into a Cage Match on the 12th."

The one thing about taking a shortcut or being disrespectful to someone is that most of the time, it will catch up with you. Will JD Smooth walk out of the Cage on February 12th and be able to call himself ACW Light Heavyweight Champion? Or will the miniBOSS take come through yet again and continue his historic championship title reign? The only way to find out is to be there February12th, as ACW Presents: Twas the Cage Fight before Valentines Day.
