One year ago, the annual Reggie Rivers King of Maryland Tournament took place in Denton, MD with Ruckus defeating Diaz in the finals of the tournament. In non-tournament action Kindred would face ACW Champion Vic Ramon would put the belt on the line against Kindred, a former ACW Champion, who at the time was willing to do anything to get back to the top of the promotion. The former champion ultimately beat the ACW Champion with ring steps. The man known to ACW fans as the "Demon Vampire" would make one more appearance before leaving the promotion for an extended period of time.
"It was an absence that ultimately needed to happen," said Kindred in an interview with adrenalinewrestling.com. "I was upset with everything at the time and it showed. Winning the tournament the year before to ultimately coming up short in those ACW Championship opportunities was a tough pill to swallow. At the end of the day, I was pretty frustrated," he later added. A year has passed and it has been announced that Kindred will be returning to ACW to face a cornerstone of ACW in Sicend. While Kindred still awaits a shot at once again becoming ACW Champion, the former King of Maryland Tournament Winner understands the importance of his match with Sicend and the tournament itself. For those who don't know, Reggie Rivers aka Prodigy PTV is a former tag team partner with Kindred. It was important to him to make his return at this event. "This event has always been special to me. Honoring the career and life of Reggie is very important in my book. He was not only a great wrestler, but a great friend and the glue that held this locker room together. I wouldn't miss this event for anything" Witness the return of "The Demon Vampire" Kindred on June 1st at Michael's 8th Avenue as ACW presents the annual King of Maryland Tournament. A microphone is something that can make or break you in the wrestling business. If you have the gift of gab, you can get noticed quickly in the world of professional wrestling. A good wrestler's career can skyrocket if they're good on the microphone. With that being said, it's not ironic that one of the marquee match-ups on June 1st at the Reggie Rivers King of Maryland Tournament involves 3 of the most outspoken people in Professional Wrestling.
For the very first time, Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Scott Steiner will make his ACW debut at historic Michael's 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie, Maryland as he takes on BLK OUT's Rob Ziccardi with newly inducted WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett as the special guest referee. Considering the accomplishments all 3 men have had in their careers, Jarrett and Steiner on the worldwide level and Ziccardi on the independents, when we asked fans what they are most looking forward to on this event a surprising yet common answer that was given to us was "the promos that Steiner and Robbie have for this match." Trash talk and promos aside, the resumes of all 3 competitors involved are quite serious. Ziccardi, a CZW Hall of Famer is a multi-time CZW Tag Team Champion and one of the most recognizable performers in the history of the promotion. In addition, he is a founding member of BLK OUT, one of the most dominant groups in the history of CZW. He has been a mainstay in ACW for the past 6 years along with fellow BLK OUT member Ruckus. Steiner, also known to wrestling fans as Big Poppa Pump is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of professional wrestling. He has won the Tag Team Championship in the WWE, WCW, New Japan, and TNA. Most of those championships were won with his brother Rick as the Steiner Brothers. In addition, he is a former WCW TV Champion, United States Champion, and World Heavyweight Champion. Steiner is most notably known for his time in the NWO during the late 90's in WCW. Jarrett, the son of longtime Tennessee promoter Jerry Jarrett was recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in New Orleans, LA. Known to Wrestling fans as Double J, The Chosen One, and the King of the Mountain, is a former Tag Team and multi-time Intercontinental Champion in the WWE as well as a formed United States and World Heavyweight Champion in WCW. He is one of the founders of TNA/Impact Wrestling as well as a multi-time NWA/TNA World Heavyweight Champion. During his time in TNA Wrestling, he was one of the people responsible for bringing current WWE Champion AJ Styles to a national audience for the first time. Can one of the founding members of BLK OUT put the Genetic Freak down for the count? Or will Big Poppa Pump set Ziccardi down in the Steiner Recliner. How will Jeff Jarrett play a factor in this match? The only way to find out is to be there LIVE on June 1st as ACW presents the annual Reggie Rivers King of Maryland Tournament from Michael's 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
