With all due respect to the Skull and Prodigy rivalry that has been at the forefront of ACW for the last 2 years, the rivalry surrounding the Light Heavyweight Championship between Champion Diaz and top challenger Robby Illuminati has been THE rivalry in ACW in 2014. Since Twas the Cage Fight Before Christmas 2013, "The South Phillionaire" has month after month been within an inch of winning the ACW Light Heavyweight Championship, only to see Diaz pull out the win time after time. While there is no shame in losing to a man who has held a championship for a little under 3 years, you have to think that coming up short time and time again leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a man who takes as much pride in honing is craft as Robby Illuminati.
Which is why his entry into the 2015 King of Maryland Tournament interesting. After losing key matchups to the ACW Light Heavyweight Champion in 2014, Illuminati will most definitely look to bounce back in 2015. In 2014 Illuminati's ACW Matchups mostly conisisted of Light Heavyweight Title matches against Diaz. A different opponent will not only be a breath of fresh air for the former CZW World Tag Team Champion, but a chance to get back in the win column to start the year. Expect to see a more focused and determined Robby Illuminati once the bell rings for his First Round match against Kekoa Mana. If Illuminati can advance to the 2nd Round (where he could eventuallly face Diaz yet again) the confidence boost from the first round win could be just what he needs to take it to the next level and win the whole thing.
Robby Illuminati could very well be the next King of Maryland Tournament winner. Will the odds be in his favor? The only way to find out is to be there LIVE, Friday March 13th as ACW Presents The 2015 King of Maryland Tournament at the OBI Building in Millersville, MD.
